Stop loss and take profit
Copies keep the master's distance from entry. You can switch copying off or use your own fixed distances.
You find these settings in a slave's SL/TP & Sentinel Guard tab.
Copy the master's levels
- Copy Master Stop Loss and Copy Master Take Profit are on by default.
- Levels are copied as a distance from entry, not as a price. If the master's stop is 20 pips from its entry, the slave's stop is 20 pips from the slave's own entry. Brokers quote slightly different prices, so this keeps the risk the same.
Changes follow
When you move the stop or the target on the master, the slaves move theirs. This includes moving a stop to breakeven.
Partial closes follow
Closing half of the master trade closes half of each copy.
Your own fixed distances
- Fixed Custom SL (Pips): every copy gets a stop this many pips from entry, whatever the master uses.
- Fixed Custom TP (Pips): the same for the target.
- Leave them at 0 to use the master's levels.
Turning copying off
Untick Copy Master Stop Loss or Copy Master Take Profit and copies open without that level. The copy still closes when the master closes.
If a change is refused
Sometimes a broker refuses a new stop because it is on the wrong side of that broker's current price. The copy then keeps its previous level, and the reason appears in Execution Errors as "SL/TP change failed".
