Futures: TopstepX, Tradovate and NinjaTrader
How to connect futures accounts, and how forex and CFD trades turn into futures contracts.
Futures platforms are on every plan, including the free trial.
TopstepX
- In TopstepX, open Settings > API and create an API key. (TopstepX charges separately for API access.)
- In LucianAlgo, pick TopstepX and enter your TopstepX username (not your email) and the API key.
- Account is optional. Leave it empty to use your first active account.
To copy stop loss and take profit, turn on Auto OCO Brackets in TopstepX under Settings > Risk Settings.
Tradovate
Pick Tradovate and click Connect with Tradovate, then sign in and allow access.
NinjaTrader 8
NinjaTrader accounts copy through the LucianAlgo add-on, which runs inside NinjaTrader on your computer.
- Add the account in LucianAlgo with the platform NinjaTrader 8.
- You get a server address and a connection key, with setup steps.
- Install the add-on, paste the address and key, and keep NinjaTrader open while you trade.
See Connection keys.
How trades turn into contracts
When a forex, index or metal trade is copied to a futures account, it goes to the matching future:
- Whole lots become standard contracts. 1 lot of NAS100 becomes 1 NQ.
- Anything smaller becomes micro contracts. 0.3 lots becomes 3 MNQ.
- Gold maps to GC or MGC, the S&P 500 to ES or MES, and so on.
Use a slave's Maximum Allowed Lot to cap the number of contracts. You can also set your own symbol pairs in Symbol mapping.
