News filter

Pauses new copies on an account around the economic news you choose, from a few minutes before to a few minutes after.

The news filter keeps an account out of the market around economic releases. It is off by default. You find it in the News filter tab of any account's settings, for masters and slaves.

What it does

From the minutes before to the minutes after a news event you watch (5 and 5 by default, so a 10-minute window), no new trades are copied on symbols tied to that event's currency.

  • USD news pauses EURUSD, USDJPY, XAUUSD, US30, NAS100, oil and crypto. EURGBP still copies.
  • GER40 counts as EUR, UK100 as GBP and JP225 as JPY.
  • A symbol the copier doesn't recognise is paused for every event you watch, to be safe.

Trades that are already open stay open. Their closes and SL/TP changes always copy, so your accounts never drift apart.

Master or slave

  • On a master, its trades aren't copied to any slave during the window.
  • On a slave, only that account skips them. The other slaves still copy.

What you choose

  • Minutes before and minutes after the event (0 to 120).
  • Impact: High, Medium and Low. Only High is ticked when you first turn it on.
  • Currencies to watch: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, NZD and CNY.
  • Types of news, the same as ForexFactory's: Growth (GDP, retail sales), Inflation (CPI, PPI), Employment (NFP, claims), Central Bank (rate decisions, FOMC, minutes), Bonds, Housing, Consumer Surveys, Business Surveys (PMI), Speeches and Misc.

Notifications

  • 10 minutes before an event your filter covers, the bell at the top of the dashboard shows which accounts will pause.
  • For High impact events you also get an email.
  • Events at the same time come as one notification.

Good to know

  • The events come from the Economic Calendar. Open it to see what is coming this week and which events your filter covers (marked with a shield).
  • Holidays and events without a set time never pause copying.
  • A copy the filter skipped is logged with the event, for example "USD CPI m/m at 12:30 UTC".
  • If the calendar can't be updated, the filter keeps using the week's events it already has.
